WE NO LONGER HAVE A BABY IN THE HOUSE - BROOKLYN TURNS 4!

Baby no more - she gave up the pacie at Christmas and she has now turned 4 - seriously where has the time gone. We had a really great Princess party this year. She had alot of little friends over, some from preschool, some from the neighborhood, some old friends and lots of family. We started the party with a face painter and the kids decorating crowns so they too could be prince and princesses. These activities went over well.

From there we had dinner - sandwiches of all kinds, meatballs, little smokies, Dad's famous rueben dip, chips & queso.......YUM! The guys chilled and watched some football on TV while we did a group picture and then on to cake and ice cream. Of course I went way over board on the cake but what can you say when momma makes cakes. The bigger the better - it had the castle on top complete with a dragon, 3 princesses (all their skirts were made of cake) and 60 cupcakes. And to top it all off Scott made me this AMAZING cake stand to display it all on.

Castle, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, and Cinderella
Last but not least on the planned activities was the pinata. Instead of the kind you beat with a stick I tried one that had the pull strings (just as much fun without me cringing everytime a kid swings). We got all the way down to almost the last string before it finally gave away and instead of loose candy I did a little baggie with each kids name on it - thus they all got the same amount.

Brooklyn starts the fun and all the way down to just a few strings left
Last of all gift time
the kids were swarming so I lost track of who got her what but she got alot of great gifts - Thanks to everyone! I hope everyone had a great time.

THE CONE OF SHAME!

So Daisy punctured her cornea in her eye - not sure how or when. We think it was over the New Year's weekend but it looked horrible. Scott took her to the vet which immediately sent her on to the Doggie Opthamologist - SERIOUSLY! They wanted to do surgery on it to put a piece of skin over the hole - my response was "ABSOLUTELY NOT!" Or other option was antibiotic eye drops for 6-8 weeks - OK I guess. What a beating it has been 3 eye drops every two to three hours + an oral antibiotic twice a day and an anti-inflamitory once a day. We did this for two days and took her back to find out it was getting better. Then 4 days and almost $900 later it was 80% better, however here we are two weeks in to the process and it still looks horrible to me. So I guess we keep doing this until it is all better. The funniest part about the whole thing was that as soon as Brooklyn saw her she said "Look Daisy has a cone of shame like Doug" (from the movie UP. Sooooo funny!
POOR DAISY!
