LAST MINUTE TRIP TO NEW BRAUNFELS BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS

San Marcos picture overload.  We took a last minute trip to San Marcos/New Braunfels to float the river and hit the river walk.  We left on Friday morning and got to New Braunfels early afternoon so we had lunch at Gristmill (a must place to eat), then hit a few of the gift shops and decided to float the short trip at the Comal River (1 1/2 hours) - kids as young as 3 yrs can float this part of the river and we wanted to see how Brooklyn was going to do.  She handled it like a champ and LOVED it at the same time.  Then that night we went out to dinner for Kamdon's 17th birthday at Texas Roadhouse.  He was a great sport when it came to wearing the balloon hat and taking a ride on the birthday saddle while waving his napkin - YEE HAW KAM!  Then the next morning we got up and went to the Guadalupe for the longer float (4 hours) - I was a little nervous because kids aren't supposed to float unless they are 6yrs or older and know how to swim which Brooklyn was neither.  However it was totally fine and again she did great.  This time we got tubes with the bottoms which made it a lot easier on her, although it didn't keep her in - she wanted to be in the river the majority of the day.  A definate repeat next summer - maybe for a longer trip and in a cabin or riverfront house rental.  I will have to plan more in advance.

That night after we got back we got cleaned up and headed to San Antonio to hit the riverwalk for dinner.  We took the river cruise and ate at the Hard Rock (which Brooklyn slept through most of - she was beat).

Sunday morning we got up and headed towards home BUT along the way stopped in Austin at ZTejas for brunch (another MUST).  I think this is one of my favorite restaurants ever for brunch.  After stuffing ourselves we headed home.  It was a really fun trip - the only way it could have been better would have been to have Blane with us.

Now back to school in the morning......they are gonna be tired.
