THE GREAT SAFARI

For the fourth this year we invited the Perez family and the Wescoat family to go to Granbury with us. But before we headed over to my parent's house we opted for a little entertainment on the "WILD" side. In Glen Rose (about 25 minutes from my parents) is Fossil Rim a huge drive through safari park. You purchase a bag of feed and drive through getting up and close to the scary animals (not really scary). Brooklyn was actually FEARLESS until a ram came up to the car with his huge curled horns - and when it did she hit the floor saying "I scared - he has big teeth". The zebras also made her very nervous - they were pretty invasive though coming into the car with no intention of getting out until they were satisfied there was no more food - even as you drove away they walked right along with you - heads in the car. The one animal we all wanted to feed were the giraffes but they weren't having it today - there was no way they were leaving the shade - not for the little morsels that we had to give them - but we did get to see them from a short distance away - what amazing animals they are. The saying of the day was "come-mere dear" - I think we heard it 500 times at least - thats how Brooklyn called out to every animal - it was really cute.
