HILTON KAUAI BEACH RESORT
This hotel was one of my least favorite of the four that we stayed at - and the Island that I seemed to get the least out of - it is a VERY pretty lush green Island but the beaches were very rough and it rained a lot (I guess the reason that it was so lush and green) - therefore very humid. Brooklyn loved the fact that the hotel had tons of ducks EVERYWHERE. Everytime we went out on our patio they would come running, literally - I guess they were used to getting fed - we did throw them a poptart the first day but realized real quick that one we would never have enough food to feed all of them and two if you do that you have a mob of ducks, roosters, chickens and even wild birds swarming your area. I think the Island bird IS the Rooster - they run wild all over even along the highway - you can even remember you stay with rooster souvenirs - T-shirts, coffee cups, etc. - I mean seriously who wants to wear a rooster shirt or more so drink from a rooster coffee cup? Brooklyn called them "The Cockadoodoos".
THE MONK SEAL
It was so cool - on the beach right behind our hotel a huge Monk Seal had come up to bask in the sun - supposedly as soon as the widlife rangers get notified that they have come a shore they go out and put up a warning sign and caution tape all the way around them so no one gets too close. It was really neat to see one in the wild and he was just rolling around and loving the sun and sand. The craziest thing is that if you were swimming in the ocean you could be right up next to this creature - can you imagine running in to him? Also makes you think...what else is that close to the shore.

THE GAYLORD
On our last day in Kauai while we were waiting to fly to the Big Island of Hawaii we went to see the Gaylord and ride the big steam engine train. Unfortunately, we got there to late to ride the train so we took a horse carrige ride pulled by AMOS the Horse around the property. Named after the Gaylord Family this was one of the first sugar cane plantations. We got a little history on the family and sugar cane and Brooklyn was totally yaken back by her ride.
