As you all know (my baby) Blane graduated High School in May and yes is off to college - Tarleton State that is. I am so proud of him - he didn't take high school as serious as he should have and realized it finally in his senior year - to late to pull his GPA up to what it could have been. He is taking a summer course at Collin County though and taking it very seriously - it is writing and he loves to write. So Friday was Orientation and Parent Orientation - since I didnt go to a university I had no clue how everything went so I along with my dad and Brookie endured the whole day information cram. I really appreciate my dad going along seeing that it was his birthday and I had to take Brooklyn out a few times and when I did he was taking notes. I
am not sure how much Blane retained either it was a lot of information for one day. However we did get his ID card, his mail box assignment, he is signed up for code purple (their Email emergency notification program), he got some Tarleton memorabilia (t-shirt, car sticker and key chain - Thanks Grandpa) and his dorm assignment - he is rooming with one of his best friends Cole - which should be a blast for them. It was a bittersweet day I am so excited for him to be taking this step in his life but so sad for me to be sending him off - I will truly miss having him around every day (you can move back home when you finish Blane - the door is always open - heehee). So his first semester consists of Algebra, English 2, Socialology, Health and a University Class (all freshman have to take - I think like study hall) - sounds like a fun load - so we will see he how he adapts to college life this fall. He is a Tarleton DUCKHEAD (their mascot is the duck) QUACK! QUACK! He is off to Duck Camp in two weeks .
So after all was said and done we headed back to my parents house in Granbury (about 40 minutes from Tarleton - look out mom I think you may see the boys OFTEN - for good food and LAUNDRY duty - sorry!) where Kamdon and Bailey hung out all day and opted for a little El Chico for Grandpa's birthday. It was a hoot at the end of our meal they brought dessert, made him stand, announced to the WHOLE restaurant that it was his birthday and sung to him. He was a little shade of red in the face - cute dad. It was nice to have the whole day with him (mom was out of town) - I don't get a whole lot of time with my dad without having to share and I was glad to have him along for the fun (sorry dad not the funnest way to spend a birthday) - I appreciate ya.
What's up with the diss on the high five?
Sorry it's side ways but it's funny - HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!
